You know, I've never told anyone this (except my mother and my bff Sam)but I'm a real cartoon junkie. I like retro cartoons like Archie and friends, Top Cat, Huckleberry Hound, and Tom and Jerry, but there's one cartoon that's retro that I really love, it's called Josie and the Pussycats. JATP was orginally a comic from Archie comics. The orginial name was She's Josie, with Josie, the brave redhead, Melody, the beautful blonde, whose dumb, and some other girl names Micki I think, who was a fiesty brown haired girl. At the time, they weren't a comic about a band who solves crimes, it was about teenagers living their life. It started out kinda like Archie. It was a popular comic from the sixties, which was created by Dan Decarlo, which he named Josie after his wife. Then, they had the idea of having Josie and the Pussycats, after the civil rights movement and brought Valerie, a smart black girl to the gang ( I think Micki was long gone) Then, Hanna-Barbera with their smart minds had an idea of making the show and the first episode aired on CBS on November of 1970 i think. Here are the character from Josie and Pussycats

Josie- a redhead who is the lead singer and guiatrist of the band. Has her interest set on Alan M, which is her boyfriend.

Melody- a sweet-hearted mellow girl who's a blonde beauty, but has no brains.

Valerie- A smart cookie, who usually makes up plans to help her and the Pussycats escape from any situation. She is as you say the "backbone" of the band

Alan M.- is loved by both Alexandra Cabot and Josie, but perfers Josie other Alexandra.

Alexandra Cabot- The Pussycats' manager's sister who loves Alan and hates Josie. Always fails her plans to get rid of Josie and make Alan hers. In the comic, she use to perform magic by petting her cat Sebastian.

Alexander Cabot III- The Pussycats' manager. Is usually chicken and wants out of their dillema, but always find himself in it though

Sebastian- the Pussycats' mascot. Alexandra's pet. He is very helpful on their adventures

Josie and the Pussycats only lasted a season and then HB made a spinoff called Josie and The Pussycats in outer space, where they introduced another character Bleep.

Bleep- a friendly space creature who only Melody can talk to. He is also very helpful

Sadly, that only last a season. Then, JATP rised again, but in a movie I didn't really cared about starting Rachel Leigh Cooke, Rosario Dawson and Tara Reid. I wished the cartoon lasted longer, it sucked it didn't
